German as a Foreign Language

German courses including literacy sklls (A1-B1)

Do you speak little or no German? Are you unfamiliar with reading and writing Latin characters? If so, you should start with a literacy course.

The courses take place two or three times per week, and are open to anyone who is interested, if places are available.
Please make an appointment for the registration by sending an E-Mail to termin.deutsch@vhs.essen.de
For discounts, please bring the appropriate identification / proof of eligibility
  • ALG II (unemployment benefit II), ALG I (unemployment benefit I)
  • Housing allowance
  • Proof of benefits as per the Act on Benefits for Asylum Seekers
